Product Description

A Magnetic Contact NC (Normally Closed) is a security sensor that completes an electrical circuit when the magnet and switch are close together and the door or window is closed, and breaks the circuit when they separate as the door or window opens. This type of sensor is common in alarm systems, where the interruption of the closed circuit signals an event, such as a door or window being opened, to the alarm panel and triggers an alert.  
How it Works:
  • Components:
    A magnetic contact consists of two parts: a magnet and a reed switch. 
  • Normally Closed (NC):
    In an NC configuration, the circuit is closed (conductive) when the magnet is present and aligned with the reed switch. 
  • Alarm Activation:
    When the door or window is opened, the magnet moves away from the switch, disrupting the magnetic field and opening the circuit. 
  • Signaling:
    The interruption of the closed circuit is detected by the connected security system (e.g., an alarm system) as a breach, which initiates an alert
